Short-Sweet-to-the-point ,Chapter 1

Chapter 1-Wake up Call
Begins on page 1 and ends on page 7 right before " 'Buddy!', the mother called."
This chapter is about Bigger and his bother trying to kill the rat that came from a hole in their floor. Also in the chapter Vera and their mother -while Bigger and Buddy are going after the rat- cry on the bed. At the end of Chapter 1 Bigger takes the rat out to the trash.


Analysis
I think the reasons Richard Wright had this part in the book was because: Bigger represents-in this chapter- the WHOLE black community and the Rat represents the white community, trying to take over his home, before kills the rat.
